The objective of Go Fish is to reel in the most matching pairs of cards as you can. This game is played with two or more players and a standard deck of fifty-two cards.
Play begins with a dealer dealing out six cards, face down, one at a time, to each player. The remaining cards are placed, face down, in the center of the table, in the “Pool”, within reach of the players. Play starts with each player laying down any pairs of cards in their hands. The dealer will be the first to act and will then ask another player for a card of a specific value in order to make a pair with the card in his hand.
If the player has the card he must give it to the player that asked for it. If the player gets a match then he lays down the pair on the table face up. He may then ask another player for a card. If the player does not have the card that was requested he will say “Go Fish”, and the player that asked will pick up a card from the “Pool”. If the player happens to get a “Catch” (pair) then he can lay down the pair and continue on to ask another player for a matching card. If no matching card is given, then the players turn is over and it is the next players turn. Play continues the same way around the table until a player is out of cards or the “Pool” is drained. The player ending up with the most “Catches” (pairs) will be the winner.
