Criss-Cross

Back to Poker Games

Criss-Cross is a poker variation that uses five community cards placed on the table in the shape of a cross. Three cards are in a row and three in a column. The middle card of the cross is wild. In this poker variation up to ten players can play using a standard deck of fifty-two cards.

Criss-Cross starts with a predetermined ante by all players. The dealer then deals out four cards, one at a time, face down to each player. The dealer next deals out five community cards face down and places them in the cross pattern.

Next, the dealer turns over one of the outside community cards, and a round of betting starts. The player to the left of the dealer starts the betting round. Each player can check (if no bets placed before him), bet, call, raise, or fold. After this round of betting is completed, the dealer will flip over another outside card, and the next round of betting begins. This will continue until the last card (middle) is turned up. This last card becomes a wild card, along with the other three cards of the same rank. A final round of betting follows.

After the final round of betting, all players remaining will reveal their cards and the player with the highest ranked five-card hand will win the pot.

Note: A player can only use three community cards, (either the three cards in a the row or the three cards in the column) along with the four cards dealt to them, to make their winning hand.
